If you’ve been thinking about starting your own crypto MLM platform but have no clue where to start, you’re in the right place. Most people assume you need a developer, smart contracts, or some expensive software to pull it off. The truth is, you can build a fully functional crypto MLM site using WordPress and a couple of powerful plugins.
I’ve done it myself, and in this post, I’m going to walk you through exactly how to do it step by step.
Why WordPress Works for Crypto MLM
Let’s be real. WordPress isn’t just for blogging anymore. It’s evolved into a platform that can run full membership sites, affiliate programs, e-commerce stores, and now even crypto-powered projects.
What makes WordPress perfect for this kind of setup is the flexibility. You don’t need to write code, and you don’t need to hire a team. With the right plugins, you can create a system that handles memberships, referral commissions, and crypto payments all under one roof.
What You’ll Need to Build It
There are two main plugins I use to make this work:
-
Ultimate Membership Pro (UMP) Handles user memberships, access levels, and gated content
-
Ultimate Affiliate Pro (UAP) Manages your MLM-style referral program with multi-level tracking and commission payouts
These two plugins are super powerful when combined. You can create different membership levels like Rookie, Promoter, Agent, or whatever fits your brand. And with UAP, you can set up a unilevel commission structure that rewards users as they bring in more signups.
The best part is, you don’t need WooCommerce unless you want it. Both UMP and UAP support multiple payment gateways out of the box.
How to Accept Crypto Payments
Here’s where it gets interesting. You can accept crypto payments on your site without touching WooCommerce. Ultimate Membership Pro supports several payment gateways, and one of them is Coinbase Commerce.
With Coinbase Commerce, your users can pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC, and a few other popular coins. Once the payment goes through, the membership is activated just like it would be with PayPal or Stripe. It’s clean, secure, and works globally.
You can also set up UAP to track referrals from those payments and apply commissions automatically.
Setting Up the Membership and Referral System
Once you install UMP, start by creating your membership tiers. Name them whatever you like and assign pricing or one-time fees. If you’re building a pay-to-join system, you can gate all your training and tools behind those tiers.
Then jump into UAP and create your referral structure. I usually keep it simple with a unilevel system and customize the commission percentages per rank. You can even reward affiliates for recurring payments or upgrades down the line.
The entire process is handled from the WordPress dashboard, and you can customize it to fit your brand.
Things to Keep in Mind
Before you go live, make sure you’re clear on what you’re offering. MLM has a bad reputation in some circles, so transparency is everything. Show users exactly what they’re paying for and what they get in return.
Don’t overpromise. Don’t hype it like a crypto pump. Just be real about the tools, training, or platform you’re giving people access to.
If you plan to offer affiliate payouts in crypto, make sure you have a clear method for tracking and distributing those payments manually or via a system.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking to launch a crypto MLM project, you don’t need to overcomplicate it. WordPress, Ultimate Membership Pro, and Ultimate Affiliate Pro are more than enough to get you started.
This setup is scalable, beginner friendly, and affordable compared to building something from scratch. And once you understand how the pieces fit together, it opens up a lot of creative ways to build your brand and income around it.
