How to Create an MLM Community Website With WordPress

If you want to create an MLM community website with WordPress, you do not need to send your members to Facebook, Discord and three other platforms just to give them somewhere to talk.

You can build the community directly into your WordPress site.

That is what I have been doing with MLM.Page. I wanted members to have a social feed, groups, conversations, notifications, private chat and membership access without turning the site into a bloated mess.

The video above shows the setup in action. This guide breaks down how I built it, what I think an MLM community actually needs, and the WordPress plugins I am using to make the pieces work together.

I am not writing this from a demo installation I used for twenty minutes. This is the setup running on MLM.Page right now.

What is an MLM community website?

An MLM community website combines the normal parts of a network marketing or membership website with features that let members actually interact with each other.

Instead of giving someone a dashboard they only visit when they need a download or account setting, you give them reasons to come back.

Members can post, comment, join groups, ask questions, share what they are building and have conversations without leaving your website.

For an MLM or network marketing site, those conversations might be about recruiting, lead generation, affiliate marketing, WordPress, AI, projects, training, company news or whatever fits your audience.

That is the difference between a website people log into and a community people participate in.

Why I chose WordPress for the community

There are plenty of hosted community platforms, and some of them are very good. The problem for me is control.

With WordPress, the community can live beside the rest of the business. Memberships, content, plugins, landing pages, affiliate tools, training and the community can all be part of the same website.

I can change hosts. I can replace a plugin. I can modify my own plugins. I am not forced to move the entire community because one SaaS platform changes its pricing or decides a feature I need belongs on a more expensive plan.

That control is one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back to WordPress.

The WordPress stack I use for MLM.Page

I did not try to find one giant plugin that does absolutely everything. I built the site in layers.

Part What it does
WordPress The foundation for the entire site
Ultimate Membership Pro Registration, membership levels, subscriptions and access
Marketur Community Community feed, groups and member discussions
Marketur Chat Private and group messaging

This lets each piece do its job instead of forcing the whole website into one system.

Step 1: Start with WordPress and your membership structure

Before worrying about feeds and chat, decide who can join and what different members should be able to access.

On MLM.Page I use Ultimate Membership Pro for the membership side. It handles registration, membership levels and access control.

That gives you a useful structure for an MLM community because you can have a free membership for basic access and paid levels that unlock additional groups, plugins, training, resources or support.

A membership plugin and a community plugin are not the same thing. Membership controls who gets access. Community features give those members something to do once they are inside.

Step 2: Add the community layer

This is where Marketur Community comes in on MLM.Page.

I wanted something closer to a modern social feed than an old-school forum. Members should be able to open the community, see what people are talking about, make a post, comment and move between groups without digging through a giant forum structure.

The community on MLM.Page includes topic-based areas for things like MLM, affiliates, marketing, AI, WordPress, projects, business and general conversation.

The point is not to cram in every social-network feature imaginable. The point is to make it easy for members to participate.

Step 3: Add groups for focused conversations

One giant feed eventually gets noisy. Groups give you a way to separate conversations by topic, membership level, team, training program or interest.

For an MLM website, you could create groups for new members, leaders, marketing, recruiting, specific training, company discussion or private paid-member areas.

The important part is access control. A private or paid group should actually be protected on the server, not simply hidden from the menu. That is something I have paid a lot of attention to while building Marketur Community.

Step 4: Add chat without replacing the community

Feed discussions and chat solve different problems.

A community feed is better for posts and conversations people may want to find later. Chat is better when two members just need to talk.

That is why I pair Marketur Chat with Marketur Community instead of trying to turn every community post into a messaging system.

Together, the membership, community and chat pieces make the site feel much more like an actual platform instead of a collection of WordPress pages.

What should a WordPress MLM community include?

If I were starting another one today, I would want a clean member registration system, profiles, a social feed, groups, comments, notifications, private messaging, mobile-friendly navigation and real access controls for private areas.

I would also keep the site focused. More features do not automatically make a better community. Every extra feature is another thing members have to understand and another thing the site has to load and maintain.

That is one reason I wanted Marketur Community to stay relatively lightweight.

Marketur Community vs BuddyPress, BuddyBoss and PeepSo

There are established WordPress community options and I am not going to pretend mine is automatically the right choice for everybody.

BuddyPress has a huge history and ecosystem. BuddyBoss makes sense for people who want a broad premium community platform. PeepSo is another established option if the goal is a Facebook-style social network.

Marketur Community makes sense for what I wanted on MLM.Page: a lightweight community layer that works with the membership system and Marketur Chat without taking over the entire WordPress installation.

The best community plugin is the one that fits the site you are actually trying to build.

Why owning your MLM community matters

Facebook Groups, Discord, Telegram and other platforms can still be useful. I would use them for discovery if that is where the audience is.

I just do not want them to be the only place the community exists.

When the community is on your own WordPress site, your content, memberships, training, tools and conversations can all live under your own brand. You are not building the entire relationship on rented ground.

For MLM and network marketing sites, I think that matters even more because the goal is usually to build a long-term member base rather than get one random page view.

Community gives members a reason to return

This may be the biggest benefit.

A normal MLM website can become pretty static. Someone reads about the opportunity, registers, checks a training page and leaves.

A community changes that.

There can be a new discussion tomorrow. Someone can ask a question. A member can share a project. A new user can introduce themselves. You can post an announcement or start a conversation around something happening in the industry.

That creates a much more natural path from visitor to free member to active community member and eventually, if the value is there, paid member.

Try the community running on MLM.Page

I think the easiest way to understand this setup is to actually use it.

The MLM.Page community is powered by Marketur Community, so the live site is also the demo. You can create a free account, look around, join conversations and see how it feels on desktop or mobile.

If you are building your own MLM community website, seeing a real installation is more useful than another giant feature list.

Building the rest of your MLM WordPress site

The community is only one layer.

Once WordPress, memberships, community and chat are working together, you can add the other pieces your business actually needs: affiliate tracking, email follow-up, landing pages, downloads, projects, training or MLM-specific tools.

If you are putting together your stack, see our guide to the best WordPress plugins for MLM websites. You can also read our hosting guide for MLM WordPress sites, because logged-in community traffic needs more attention than a mostly cached content site.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create an MLM community website with WordPress?

Yes. WordPress can handle the website and user system, a membership plugin can control registration and access, and a community plugin can add feeds, groups and member interaction.

What is the best WordPress community plugin for an MLM site?

It depends on what you need. BuddyPress, BuddyBoss and PeepSo are established options. MLM.Page uses Marketur Community because I wanted a lightweight community layer that integrates with the membership setup and Marketur Chat.

Do I need both a membership plugin and a community plugin?

For the setup described here, yes. They handle different jobs. The membership plugin controls registration, levels, subscriptions and protected access. The community plugin handles member interaction.

Can an MLM WordPress site have private groups?

Yes. Groups can be organized around topics, teams or membership levels. Make sure private content is protected server-side rather than simply hidden from navigation.

Can I test Marketur Community?

Yes. The community running on MLM.Page is the live demo. Create a free account and use it from the member side.

Create your own MLM community with WordPress

You do not need to recreate Facebook to make an MLM site feel like a community.

Start with the pieces members actually need. Give them a place to join, a reason to return, focused conversations and an easy way to talk to each other.

That is the approach I am taking with MLM.Page, and I will keep documenting what works and what does not as I build it.
